Myasnikov warned against the use of antibiotics for COVID-19

DOCTOR and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov warned Russians about the dangers of hormonal drugs and antibiotics in the treatment of CORONAVIRUS infection on an outpatient basis. He published the corresponding statement in his TELEGRAM channel.

The doctor recalled that coronavirus belongs to the category of acute respiratory infections and requires only auxiliary means for treatment, and not the use of potent drugs (hormonal and antibiotics). “It is impossible to use at home for the treatment of acute respiratory infections what severe viral pneumonia is treated in hospitals! Side effects can even be fatal! Myasnikov explained.

Instead, he advised, as with a viral acute respiratory disease, to eat lightly, drink plenty of water, and also take antipyretics. He also suggested paying attention to vitamins, trace elements and interferons in nasal drops.

Earlier, Joshua Schaffzin, MD, DIRECTOR of infection control and prevention at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, recommended that antidiarrheal drugs with loperamide and inhalers be avoided during treatment for COVID-19. The doctor explained that loperamide slows down the intestines, which prevents the body from getting rid of bacteria on its own.
