The Philippine and Spanish governments have reached an agreement that allows more than 20 Spanish beef producers to EXPORT MEAT to the Philippine market.
Negotiations have been underway for more than two years and Provacuno, the Spanish interprofessional association of beef producers, has already set the stage for Spanish beef in the Philippine market. “This authorization is the culmination of efforts by the authorities and the Spanish beef sector to expand the list of countries to which we can export our products,” said Javier López, DIRECTOR of Provacuno. Over the past couple of years, Spain has gained access to markets such as Vietnam and Japan, and is currently working on introducing Spanish beef to CHINA and SOUTH KOREA, which will significantly expand beef exports to Asia.
The total demand for beef in the Philippine market is about 400,000 tons per year, while the production is about 200,000 tons, so imports are very important. Provacuno representatives have been visiting the Philippines for over two years and have organized return missions and online meetings to establish relationships with local distributors, importers, HORECA companies and the media.
“The Spanish producers that have chosen this market are making important efforts and will be able to commercialize Spanish beef in the Philippines from today,” commented José Ramón Godoy, director of international sales at Provacuno.
