In order to prevent the occurrence and spread of infectious diseases in the Rostov region, farm animals are regularly treated for ticks that are carriers of such diseases as tick-borne encephalitis, Q fever, tularemia, Crimean hemorrhagic fever, piroplasmosis and many others.
Livestock are protected from ectoparasites by specialists of animal disease control stations subordinate to the regional veterinary department. For mass processing of animals, disinfection units DUK are used, in the case of individual processing, backpack sprayers.
The total number of treatments to date has amounted to 2 million 665 thousand. These are 1 million 231 thousand heads of cattle, 1 million 191 thousand heads of small cattle, 241 thousand heads of pigs and 1540 heads of horses.
The Department of Veterinary Medicine reminds that pets should also be treated for ticks. This responsibility lies with their owners. Moreover, anti-tick treatment should be carried out even if the pet does not leave the apartment, since parasites can be brought into the house from the street.
