About 220,000 beds across RUSSIA have been provided to patients with CORONAVIRUS and citizens suspected of having the disease, a quarter (25%) of which are free. This was announced by First Deputy Minister of HEALTH Viktor Fisenko at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

“Last year, at the peak, we deployed 280 thousand beds, today we have about 220 thousand beds, but their number varies depending on the situation. The share of free bed fund is about 25%,” he said.

At the same time, according to him, more than 5 thousand patients with coronavirus infection are in intensive care units. “Here you need to be careful and try to prevent the disease, so I urge everyone to make a choice in favor of vaccination,” Fisenko added.

According to the HEAD of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova, at the moment in Russia for the fifth week there has been a gradual decrease in the incidence of coronavirus, no more than 5-7% from week to week. Rospotrebnadzor assumes that the incidence of COVID-19 and respiratory infections will increase during this period, Popova added.

In Russia, 18,985 cases of the disease were registered over the previous day, 798 people died from coronavirus. The top five regions with the highest number of COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic are Moscow, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod and Rostov regions.
