The Red Cross announced a constructive dialogue with Moskalkova

The International Committee of the Red Cross is conducting an open and constructive dialogue with the Russian Ombudsman for Human Rights Tatyana Moskalkova, the organization's press service told RIA Novosti.

“We have an open and constructive dialogue with Ms. Moskalkova and her team,” the Red Cross said.

On May 23, Moskalkova said she had contacted the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Peter Maurer, because the organization, according to her, did not provide information about Russian prisoners of war, despite repeated requests.

The Red Cross promised to respond to Moskalkova's request to visit prisoners Politics

In particular, the ombudswoman said, her subordinates asked the committee for information about the physical and psychological state of Russian prisoners of war and the possibility of them receiving the necessary medical care. Moskalkova's team also asked the organization if the provisions of the Geneva Convention are observed with regard to the prisoners and whether the ombudsman or her representatives can personally come to the servicemen.

Later, the Red Cross reported that they would respond to Moskalkova's request for the opportunity to visit Russian prisoners of war in Ukraine as soon as possible. “There has been a delay in providing an official response and we are working to provide a response as soon as possible,” the Red Cross said.
