RAS expert named the reason for the lack of herd immunity to COVID

The low vaccination rates and the variability of the CORONAVIRUS are the main reasons why the so-called herd immunity to covid-19 has not yet developed in the country . This opinion was expressed by the chief researcher of the laboratory of functional genomics of the Medical Genetic Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences Ancha Baranova.

“We all had high hopes for him. They thought there would be a vaccination and there would be immunity. But the rate of vaccination in RUSSIA is low. In addition, the delta strain began to spread, which reduced the effectiveness of the vaccine, ”said Baranova in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

The expert also noted that the rate of revaccination was even worse than that of vaccination.

Earlier, the chief physician of the city clinical hospital No. 52, Maryana Lysenko, said that Moscow still had not developed a strong herd immunity to coronavirus due to low vaccination rates.
