Prospects of genetics in animal husbandry: how SEMEX is changing the market in Russia

Founded in 1974 in Canada, SEMEX is an alliance of three major breeding cooperatives: Ontario, Western and Eastern Breeders. The farmers' decision to create their own world-class breeding center allowed the company to become an international brand, which today exports its products to more than 80 countries.

SEMEX owns the world's largest bank of breeding material and actively uses genomic selection. They were the first to introduce the Immunity+ program to the market, which allows selecting bulls with high hereditary resistance to diseases, and set the trend for an integrated approach to breeding work, combining genetics, science and technology.

In 2025, CENTERPLEM became an official partner of SEMEX in Russia, which was a strategic step for them. Farmers need not just a pedigree animal , but also effective genetic tools to obtain sustainable and productive offspring, especially in the context of the struggle for efficiency in everyday work.

CENTRPLEM offers the best SEMEX bulls and both conventional and sexed semen, allowing farmers to view this as an investment in genetics. Future cooperation between CENTRPLEM and SEMEX will open new horizons for Russian farmers, helping to improve the quality and efficiency of modern livestock farming.
