A 6.2% decline in the cattle population in the Altai region, while milk production increased.

The decrease affected all major types of farm animals: the number of cows decreased by 7.3% to 203.7 thousand, pigs by 3.3% to 269.6 thousand, and sheep and goats by 9.2% to 120.2 thousand.

Despite the overall decline in livestock numbers, the region's agricultural production figures showed positive trends. In 2025 , 254,900 tons of meat, 1.03 million tons of milk, and 1.18 billion eggs were produced. Meat and poultry production increased by 3.9%, milk by 4.1%, and eggs by 0.4% compared to the previous year. This was made possible by increased productivity; in particular, the average milk yield per cow increased by 8.3% to 7,054 kg.
