Ineffectiveness of poultry subsidies in Kazakhstan: audit reveals problems

At the same time, there has been a significant increase in poultry exports from Kazakhstan: in 2023, EXPORT volumes more than doubled compared to 2022, and in 2024 , growth of 31.4% is expected. Subsidized products are exported to RUSSIA, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan at prices significantly lower than domestic ones, which creates a risk of subsidies leaking abroad. The purpose of subsidies was to saturate the domestic market. In response, the government established obligations for agricultural producers receiving subsidies to ensure the targeted use of budget funds, which should be reflected in increased production, job creation and increased yields.
