Bulgaria imposes temporary ban on movement of sheep and goats due to worsening epizootic situation

The main reason for this decision was the incidence of diseases that threaten the HEALTH of these animals, which could lead to significant economic losses for farmers and the agricultural sector. Of particular concern arebrucellosis , leukemia and various viral infections that can lead to massive losses of livestock.

Despite the strict measures, there are exceptions. The movement of sheep and goats is only permitted if they are sent to places of immediate slaughter, and it is necessary to obtain special permission from the Regional Food Safety Authority (RFSA) and undergo a clinical examination by a veterinarian.

Additional restrictions have been introduced in the Plovdiv region: not only grazing and transportation, but also trade in these animals are prohibited. Veterinarians also cannot visit farms without serious necessity.

As part of measures to control the epizootic situation, bans onMILK sampling from farms and the organization of small cattle markets and exhibitions. This is necessary to protect animal health and ensure the stability of the food market. Farmers must closely monitor changes and comply with all regulations to avoid risks and save their animals.
