Microsoft is thinking about postponing the closure of services for companies from Russia

it was planned to close access to cloud services for Russian companies from March 20, but now MICROSOFT is planning to do this at the end of the month, Softline reported. The restrictions will not affect individuals, says an RTVI source

The American company Microsoft is discussing the issue of postponing the suspension of cloud services for Russian companies to the end of the month, Andrey Blagorazumov, vice president of Softline (developer of the Softline Universe ecosystem), told RBC.

Softline, according to him, received information about this through its own channels from Microsoft representatives.

“This does not cancel the restrictions being introduced, but it gives the necessary time to make backups and set up the operation of alternative infrastructure. This is especially important for socially significant objects,” said the top manager.

Microsoft previously warned Russian companies in its newsletter that cloud services for them would be closed starting March 20, RBC wrote. The American corporation explained that due to EU sanctions , it will not be able to supply “certain management or design software (including cloud solutions) to organizations registered in RUSSIA.” The decision is related to the 12th package of Brussels sanctions against Moscow: it contains restrictions on the supply of software for business analytics, explained Softline PR DIRECTOR Svetlana Ashcheulova.

Softline also learned that the block “will definitely include Teams, One Drive, Azure, Office 365 subscriptions, all web services, including free ones, and all versions of Excel,” the company said.

RTVI, citing a source, reported that Microsoft will not block access to its products for individuals; shutdowns only threaten legal entities that are registered in Russia.
