Killed in a drunken quarrel: a crime five years ago was solved in Novopolotsk

February 27, Vitebsk . Five years ago there was a murder in Novopolotsk, whichlaw enforcement recently revealed. A BELTA correspondent was informed about this by the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

In January 2019, in Novopolotsk, the body of a 42-year-old local resident was found at the entrance to the basement of a high-rise building. Then it was established that the death of the Novopolosk resident was violent. It was not possible to immediately solve the crime and find the killer, but work on this case did not stop. Employees of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Vitebsk Region were on the trail of the suspect.

During the investigation, police established that on the eve of his death, a resident of Novopolotsk and two casual acquaintances, 36 and 37 years old, were drinking alcohol at one of their homes . The youngest of the new acquaintances left, and the eldest, the owner of the apartment, continuing the alcoholic party, did not share something with the guest. In an argument, he grabbed a piece of a plate, which he used to slash the throat of a 47-year-old Novopolotsk resident. The victim died on the spot from the wound.

The criminal decided to carefully cover his tracks. He wrapped the body in a blanket and took it to the basement of a neighboring house.

The man was detained by police with the force support of riot police. A set of operational search activities and investigative actions are being carried out to establish all the details of the crime.
