The Ministry of Industry and Trade urged retailers to raise the purchase prices for eggs

This will avoid a reduction in the number of chickens and a shortage of eggs in the future.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade called on retail chains to raise the purchase prices for chicken eggs. According to him, this will avoid a reduction in the number of chickens and a shortage in the market in the future. Yevtukhov noted that the price of chicken eggs was very high, but after certain decisions and tenders were made, they fell significantly in price, tenders fell to 40 rubles. for ten. Yevtukhov believes that this threatens with serious negative consequences for the agro-industrial complex.

Purchasing prices for eggs turned out to be lower than the cost of production, in connection with which a shortage of this product is expected in RUSSIA against the backdrop of rising costs for producers. According to the publication, egg producers asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to help solve the problem of a “critical reduction” in purchase prices for their products. DIRECTOR General of Rosptitsesoyuz Galina Bobyleva told Vedomosti that retailers buy eggs for 36-45 rubles. for a dozen, while their cost is now an average of 49-52 rubles per dozen.

Over the past year, the cost of poultry farming has increased by an average of 20-25% due to higher prices for grain, feed additives, hatching eggs, packaging, etc., reminded Bobyleva. According to her, egg producers will not be able to work at a loss for a long time. Bobyleva also said that if the selling price does not cover production costs, in November we may face a shortage of goods. However, the decline in prices is a seasonal factor, she specified.

Director General of the National Union of Poultry Breeders Sergey Lakhtyukhov said that, among other things, at the beginning of summer, there is traditionally a reduction in egg consumption due to the transition of people to fresh vegetables. “But due to a significant increase in prices, including for the vegetable group, we hope that stable demand for eggs will continue,” Lakhtyukhov noted.

Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, there will be no shortage of chicken eggs in the domestic market, the ministry said on May 28. The agency acknowledges a strong increase in producer prices at the beginning of the year, however, thanks to a set of measures to support the poultry industry, prices have “significantly decreased” over the past few weeks, and the situation in the industry is stable and comfortable. So, according to the ministry, as of May 26, the cost of eggs of the first category for the month decreased by 19.5%, the second category - by 10.9%. One of the reasons for this dynamics was the slowdown or cessation of price growth for grains, as well as for sunflower meal, which are the main components of feed, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture explained. According to Rosstat, for the week from May 18 to May 24, the average retail prices for eggs decreased by 2.3%, compared to December 2020, they remained 9.5% more expensive.
