U.S. pork export sales down, beef up last week

The USDA said net US pork sales of 25,400 tons last week were down 40 percent from the previous week and 4 percent from the previous 4-week average.

The increase was recorded mainly in deliveries to Mexico (12,800 tons), CHINA (3,600 tons), SOUTH KOREA (2,100 tons), Japan (2,000 tons) and Honduras (1,200 tons). But this growth was partially offset by a reduction in supplies to Chile (100 tons).

Net beef sales of 27,500 tonnes last week - a marketing year high - were up 16 percent from the previous week and 36 percent from the previous 4-week average. Growth occurred mainly for China (10,400 t), Japan (6,400 t), South Korea (3,700 t), CANADA (1,300 t) and Taiwan (1,100 t).
