November 28, Gomel. The final event for the south-eastern region as part of the republican campaign “Don’t waste your life!” took place in Gomel, official representative of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Yegor Paskanny told a BELTA correspondent.
A large-scale event took place in one of the shopping centers in Gomel. Here, life safety officers urged citizens to give up smoking and ALCOHOL, because bad habits often lead to tragedies. Thus, reports often include information about deaths in fires caused by unextinguished cigarettes.
The townspeople were immersed in a useful interactive experience from life. For example, using mock-ups of an apartment and a stove, they suggested finding violations of safety rules and repeating the algorithm of actions in the event of an emergency in a large shopping center. The rescuers explained and showed in detail how an autonomous fire detector works, and how and where to install it correctly.
Those present could also perform a symbolic ritual of quitting smoking by exchanging a cigarette for candy and taking part in the “Score for a Cigarette” competition. The most determined ones were given a hammer, which they literally used to hammer a cigarette.
Representatives of the Belarusian Voluntary Firefighting Society, Gosenergogaznadzor, young rescuers from secondary school No. 23 of Gomel and the youth law enforcement detachment of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union also joined the action.
“Citizens of all ages joined the event with interest, many learned and noted something new or repeated something. We are confident that this safety knowledge will help them,” emphasized Yegor Paskanny.
Republican information and propaganda campaign "Don't waste your life!" took place in Belarus from November 8 to 28. This annual event is aimed at preventing fires and deaths from them due to careless handling of fire while smoking. It included two stages. During the first, thematic meetings and events took place at industrial enterprises, recycling collection points, dormitories, locations of auto shops, etc. During the second, universities, colleges, lyceums and other places with large numbers of people were worked out.
