There's a global trend: people are having children later in life
. Can a man aged 50 or 60 become a father to a healthy child? And what does it take? Urologist and andrologist Alexander Batsenko explained in the BELTA project "In the Topic. HEALTH." " A man can become a father at 50 or 80. This is determined by his overall health and lifestyle: if he didn't smoke or smoked infrequently, didn't abuse
ALCOHOL, got enough sleep, and had a rational approach to his lifestyle in general. We sometimes work too much, burning ourselves out for the sake of a golden calf. Therefore, the ability or opportunity to maintain overall male
health , so to speak, will allow him to maintain the opportunity to become a father.
Lately, I've been seeing men on their second, third, and fifth marriages quite often. We live in serial monogamy. There's a good joke: if you haven't married by 30, you might have missed your first divorce. This is already true; people get together easily and break up easily. We must be prepared for
men to start new families in their 50s and 60s, and they want and are ready to be parents. Fortunately, modern medicine makes this possible.
To do this, you need to find a way to think about your male health at all times, not just when you decide to become a father. After age 30, annual checkups are essential; they are simple, inexpensive, and available through the public healthcare system.

If a man decides to become a father, he should see a urologist. Unfortunately (or fortunately), this doesn't depend on age—at 20, 30, or 40, the standard is the same. The protocol is as follows: a woman should see a gynecologist and state that she intends to become pregnant, and a man is required to see a urologist. They should be tested for latent infections and have an ultrasound to rule out varicocele. If there are indications or complaints, have your hormonal levels tested and, if necessary, have a spermogram to assess the activity, motility, and quality of the sperm. And after that, it will be clear whether he can father a child or whether he needs some kind of help,
medication , or completely different reproductive methods.
