A pedigree reproducer of the Aberdeen-Angus breed of cattle appeared in Khakassia

For four years, work has been carried out on the farm to improve the genetic potential of the herd. During this time, it was possible to achieve the maximum level of breed purity of animals.

In 2019, the management of the peasant farm decided to create a breeding core of the Aberdeen-Angus breed, completely new for Khakassia. 90 inseminated cows were delivered to the farm. Subsequently, several breeding bulls and calves were added to them. Gradually, the herd population reached 230 individuals.

Aberdeen cats were bred by Scottish breeders at the end of the 18th century. Currently, they are considered one of the best beef cattle breeds in the world. In addition to their large weight (450-670 kg for cows and 650-950 kg for bulls) and high quality MEAT, they have other positive characteristics. With proper nutrition, adult animals are able to gain weight up to 1.7 kg per day. In local conditions, the weight gain of cows averages 1.1 kg daily, and in summer - from 1.3 to 1.5 kg.
