
According to the USDA forecast , China's poultry MEAT production will fall by 3% this year. A similar forecast was released by the Chinese government , which expects poultry meat production to decline to 2020 levels, reaching 14.3 million tonnes.
Chicken meat consumption is also expected to decline to 14.6 million tonnes due to low pork prices, a less optimistic economic outlook and adverse impacts on the hotel, restaurant and cafe sector due to restrictions put in place to combat the covid-19 outbreaks .
Imports will increase slightly from 2021, reaching 800,000 tons of poultry meat, as CHINA maintains the same pace of exports to Hong Kong, Japan, other Southeast Asian countries or even the Netherlands as in 2021.
