Growth of meat production in Russia: current trends and prospects

In 2024 , 2.5 million tons of sausages were produced in Russia, which is 1.6% more than in the previous year. There is also growth in the segment of meat and meat-containing semi-finished products - 4.9 million tons (+ 4.7%) and canned meat - 913 thousand tons (+ 1.9%). These figures confirm not only the increase in production volumes, but also the growing interest of consumers in high-quality meat products.

Self-sufficiency and consumption

It is important to note that self-sufficiency in meat and meat products in Russia exceeds 100%. This means that the country is able to fully satisfy domestic demand for meat products, which is a significant achievement for the agricultural sector. According to Sergey Yushin, head of the National Meat Association, the growth in processing production is primarily due to the increased demand for animal protein against the background of an increase in disposable income of the population.

According to experts, the growth in consumption of the main types of meat will continue in 2025. This is due to changes in consumer preferences, as well as an improvement in the economic situation in the country.
