According to Alexey Lobytsin, Deputy Minister of Agriculture for the region, the average weight of newborn piglets was approximately 715 grams, indicating a high genetic predisposition and healthy animals. The main breeds represented in the region are the Large White and Landrace, known for their productivity and disease resistance.

A notable achievement was achieved by a sow named Beatrice from the Usolsky Pig Complex agricultural production cooperative, which bred 16 piglets, a record for the breed.The pig farm , which has the highest zoosanitary status, adheres to strict biosecurity measures, which is extremely important due to the threat of African swine fever.

Experts predict that by the end of 2024, the pig population in the Irkutsk region will reach approximately 152,800 head. The successful results of the past year are inspiring farmers to implement new technologies and further develop pig farming. Local authorities are actively supporting this sector, offering subsidies and modernization programs, creating favorable conditions for growth and improving food security in the region.
