Development of a molecular genetic laboratory in Buryatia will help improve the quality of livestock

To improve the quality of livestock in the republic, Darmaev initiated research into the genetic characteristics of animals, which will help promptly resolve issues of improving the gene pool. This includes the import of breeding bulls and the organization of artificial insemination. The HEAD of the laboratory, Dmitry Kosolapov, noted that one of the main areas of their work is to confirm the authenticity of the origin of animals using microsatellite DNA markers. The laboratory also studies mutations that have a positive effect on the productivity and quality of MEAT, primarily in relation to meat breeds such as the Hereford and Kazakh White-Headed.

In 2024 , based on official requests, 740 certificates for the sale of breeding young animals of various types of farm animals were issued, and 46 breeding individuals were purchased from four large farms outside Buryatia. In order to improve the quality characteristics of the herd of meat and dairy directions, artificial insemination methods are also actively introduced.
