The outbreaks of African swine fever that broke out in the Pskov region, as well as the forced destruction of animals against this background, will not affect the performance of the MEAT production indicator in 2021. As the press service of the administration of the Pskov region told MK in Pskov, Nikolai Romanov, chairman of the regional committee on agriculture and state technical supervision, said this during a working meeting with Governor Mikhail Vedernikov.

Speaking about the region's success in the agricultural sector, he focused on the fact that the production index increased compared to last year and now stands at 108%. Nikolai Romanov noted that this is "one of the highest indexes in the country." The situation with the planned production of MILK is also developing positively. The chairman of the profile committee noted that by the end of the year the planned indicators would be achieved. In addition, it is assumed that the Pskov region will take the 1st place in the North-West in terms of meat of all kinds.

“African swine fever will not affect the achievement of the pork production target, in this regard we have a reserve,” commented Nikolai Romanov.

At the same time, the HEAD of the committee drew attention to the factors hindering the growth of the region's agro-industrial complex. Among them, Nikolai Romanov named the increase in the cost of animal feed, as well as difficult weather conditions during the summer.
