The Agreement on Accreditation of the System and Pre-Listing allows all companies that have qualified under the Federal Inspection System to apply for the accreditation process to EXPORT their products to the Philippine market. Technical missions by the Asian country's authorities will now focus on inspecting the system rather than the factories.
Previously, qualification was carried out on an individual basis with documentary analysis by the authorities of the Asian country. In total, 23 enterprises exporting chicken MEAT and 4 enterprises exporting pork were allowed to export.
“The preliminary listing is an important recognition of the Brazilian system and a new level in relations with the Philippine market,” said Ricardo Santin, President of ABPA. “Thanks to the efforts made by the Ministries of Agriculture and Foreign Affairs to democratize access to this market, we have good hopes for the development of the partnership between the two countries.”
The Philippines is currently Brazil’s sixth-largest chicken export destination, importing 37,400 tonnes in the first two months of this year. Pork was sold at 25,700 tonnes during the same period, making it the second-largest importer. Combined, sales of the two proteins generated more than US $80 million in revenue in the first two months of this year alone.
