In recent years, Russian animal husbandry has shown steady growth in MEAT and MILK production. Our country is already fully provided with the main types of meat products and closes a significant part of the domestic consumption of dairy products. In the current year, according to the department, the positive dynamics will continue.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, in January 2022, the production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in agricultural organizations increased by 7.8% compared to the same period last year, to 997.8 thousand tons. Including in pig breeding, the indicator increased by 6.1%, in cattle - by 7.1%, and in poultry - by 9.4%. Milk production reached 1.53 million tons (+2.5%), and eggs, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, amounted to 2.77 billion pieces (+2.1%).
In the Chelyabinsk region in January, in all categories of farms, 37.8 thousand tons of meat of all types were produced, plus 4.3 thousand tons by January 2021. According to Minister Aleksey Kobylin, pig farms are now the drivers of growth in the region. Thus, the number of pigs in January 2022 compared to January 2021 at the pig farms of the region increased by 34.2 thousand heads (104.6%). As a result, pork production in agricultural enterprises increased by 10%, and in the region as a whole - by 8.2% and amounted to 10.6 thousand tons. Poultry meat production increased in January by 3.9 thousand tons compared to January 2021 (plus 19%), 24 thousand tons of poultry meat were produced.
The minister explained that at the end of last year, a groundwork was created to increase meat production: “A good offspring was obtained in pig breeding, epizootic safety was restored in poultry farming, and already in January this affected the growth of production. The prerequisites for the further development of industries are ongoing investment projects, as well as subsidizing from the regional budget for the modernization of poultry sites, which is planned to be implemented in 2022.”
In dairy farming in the region, the implementation of the program for the construction and modernization of livestock buildings and milking parlors with state support will continue, which will allow farms to increase milk production by 25-30 thousand tons by 2024.
The increase in production contributes to maintaining a stable price situation in the meat market. Thus, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation as of February 23, the cost of pork from producers decreased by 3.6% over the month, chicken meat - by 0.9%.
