"Careless handling of fire canALCOHOL intoxication is one of the most common causes of fires with tragic outcomes. Unfortunately, the culprits of these emergency situations are the people themselves, who neglect basic fire safety rules,” noted the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

As it turned out, on March 17, at about 20.00, while in the house of friends in the village of Vygonichi, Volozhin district, a 49-year-old man received burns. having fallen asleep near a trash can that caught fire from an unextinguished cigarette. On March 18, the victim was found sleeping in bed by a friend and taken to a HEALTH care facility. The burned man, after being examined by doctors, was hospitalized in the burn intensive care unit with burns to 41% of his body.

The considered version of the cause of the fire is careless handling of fire when the victim smokes.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, in order to avoid a fire due to careless handling of fire when smoking, the following fire safety rules must be observed. Firstly, smoke only in specially equipped places. Secondly, do not smoke in bed or other place for sleep, do not throw matches and cigarette butts (you must first put out the cigarette butt and make sure that the cigarette butt or match not only does not burn, but also does not smolder). You should also not smoke near flammable materials and flammable liquids, as well as throw unextinguished cigarette butts into garbage chutes and trash cans, or throw cigarette butts from balconies. Effective for preventing emergency situations, in addition, there is a universal recommendation from the Ministry of Emergency Situations to install autonomous fire detectors in all living rooms.
