Sowing campaign started in the Nizhny Novgorod region

The first 300 hectares of farmland are sown with grain crops.
The sowing campaign has started in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Nikolai Denisov.
“The sowing campaign began in the region with the sowing of grain crops. The first to go into the field were farmers from four districts: Pochinkovsky, Shatkovsky, Gorodetsky and Varnavinsky. The first 300 hectares of farmland were sown with oats and wheat. We hope that favorable weather will be established in the region in the near future, and other municipalities will also join the sowing campaign,” Nikolai Denisov said.
The head of the regional Ministry of Agriculture specified that agricultural organizations and farms of the Nizhny Novgorod region in 2022 plan to carry out spring sowing of grain on an area of 408 thousand hectares, which is 21 thousand hectares more than a year earlier. Wheat, barley, oats, as well as legumes and cereals will be sown.
For sowing in Nizhny Novgorod farms, there are seeds of grain crops, potatoes, sunflower, fiber flax and vegetables in full. Work is underway to import paid seeds of perennial grasses, corn, sugar beets and oilseeds.
“Winter crops, including cereals, were sown last autumn on an area of 224 thousand hectares, which is seven percent more than a year ago. Now their condition is assessed as satisfactory, death is predicted within the normal range - on the area of no more than seven percent. All dead winter crops will be resown with spring crops. To do this, the region's insurance fund has the necessary supply of seeds,” added Nikolai Denisov.
Earlier it was reported that in order to form a good harvest and fodder base, Nizhny Novgorod farmers carry out mineral dressing and harrowing of winter crops, as well as perennial grasses.
Recall that about 5 billion rubles of subsidies were allocated to support agricultural enterprises and the development of rural areas of the Nizhny Novgorod region this year, of which 1.2 billion rubles have already been brought to agricultural producers. The funds were used to prepare for spring field work, purchase machinery and equipment, and support milk production.
