This is the highest figure in recent years.
The Yamal District remains the leader, with nearly 1,200 tons. The Tazovsky District significantly increased its output, harvesting 1,100 tons. This was made possible by the launch of a new slaughterhouse. Nearly 1,200 private reindeer herders participated
in the 2025 campaign . They have access to 17 slaughterhouses across the district, which offer the highest meat procurement price in the country – at least 500 rubles per kilogram for first-class product.
"The systematic work of the Department of Agriculture to expand the network of slaughterhouses and corrals is yielding results. The trend of annual increases in venison harvesting volumes continues," commented Lyubov Okhman, Deputy Director of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Department of Agriculture.
More than 50 veterinary specialists ensured product safety and quality. All processes – from the arrival of animals to the release of finished products – were carried out in strict compliance with veterinary regulations. Only clinically healthy reindeer that had undergone mandatory processing, labeling, and accounting were allowed for slaughter.
Since 2020, the Yamal agricultural industry has increased procurement volumes from 2,000 to over 3,300 tons in 2025. Over the same period, the number of private reindeer herders who supply reindeer has increased 4.5-fold, the average slaughter weight of a reindeer has increased by almost three kilograms, and the share of first-class meat in the total procurement volume has increased from 67% to 87%.
