Schoolchildren aged 14-17 who study and (or) live in the territory of the Sverdlovsk region are invited to participate in the educational course.
The organizers of the shift are the Ural State Agrarian University and the Golden Section Fund for Supporting Talented Children and Youth.
The program is aimed at children who are interested in ecological and biological sciences, modern methods and techniques of ecological biotechnology, who are participants in competitions in ecology or biology, as well as various competitions of design works in the natural sciences.
From December 12 to 21, schoolchildren will have a rest in the country center "Tavatuy" and will take part in an extensive environmental program. In an interactive format, children will learn a lot about the ecology of animals, plants, water bodies, food biotechnology and much more. Get to know urban farming, natural ecosystems, water filtration techniques, cheese and yogurt making techniques, food micro-organisms, take part in a healthy eating game, and more. Classes will be held by teachers of the Ural State Agrarian University.
“The course “Environmental Design” is for those who are not indifferent to the issues of the modern “green” agenda and for whom ecology begins with action. Together we will understand the basic concepts of academic ecology and discuss how to move from the desire to improve the world to concrete actions. The children will be able to expand their horizons, as well as acquire skills that allow them to effectively apply the acquired knowledge when creating projects in various fields of science. As a final certification, all course participants will come up with and defend their own creative environmental project,” said Olga Sergeevna Chechenikhina, DIRECTOR of the USAU Youth Professional Development Center.
To participate in the selection for an intensive educational course, you must register on the website of the Golden Section Foundation for the Support of Talented Children and Youth https://zsfond.ru/program/ekologicheskoe-proektirovanie/. The application must be accompanied by a letter of motivation and a portfolio of achievements (participation in competitions and olympiads: international level - 30 points, regional level - 20 points, municipal level - 10 points, the status of the winner in these competitions and olympiads gives + 15 points, the status of the winner + 10 points).
it is worth noting that the representatives of USAU held the first intensive on ecology for schoolchildren last summer. In the Tavatuy EC, the children learned how to conduct field research to study the diversity of flora and fauna, draw up passports for the area and water bodies, determine the physical and chemical parameters of water, anthropogenic climate change, use GIS technologies to create maps, and conduct microbiological tests to determine the quality of food and much more. And at the end of the shift, they defended their own environmental projects.
