Vegetable Field Day was held in the Levashinsky District of Dagestan. Organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan jointly with the seed companies Semena Kavkaza and Agrofirma Poisk, the event aimed to develop the region's agricultural potential and introduce advanced technologies in vegetable growing.
As part of the event, a scientific and practical conference was held in the Levashinsky District Administration's meeting hall under the leadership of Sharip Sharipov, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan.
Mukhtar Khalalmagomedov, Head of the Levashinsky District, delivered a welcoming address, emphasizing the importance of modern technologies for improving the efficiency of the local agro-industrial complex. Conference participants discussed current issues in vegetable growing, including industry challenges and strategies for overcoming them. Particular attention was paid to the presentation of new cabbage hybrids bred by Agrofirma Poisk. Experts highlighted their key advantages: high yields, resistance to common diseases, excellent marketability, and adaptability to Dagestan's soil and climate conditions. Modern plant protection and nutrition technologies were also presented, including effective pest and disease control strategies and nutritional optimization.
The Vegetable Field Day concluded with a hands-on demonstration of Agrofirma Poisk's cabbage hybrid samples at a test plot in the village of Urma, Levashinsky District. Farmers had a unique opportunity to visually evaluate the presented hybrids and receive practical recommendations directly from the breeders.
At the field demonstration, Sharip Sharipov spoke about the development of vegetable growing in Dagestan. Trofimov, technical specialist for vegetable crops at AF Poisk, gave a brief overview of the agrofirm's hybrids and organized a cabbage tasting. Isak Ismailov, General Director of Semena Kavkaza LLC, and Magomed Adaev, a representative of Semena Kavkaza LLC in the village of Urma, discussed the prospects for seed production.
Participants noted that holding such events underscores the overall trend toward strengthening domestic seed production in Dagestan. Over the past five years, the share of domestically bred cabbage seeds used in the region has increased from 1% to over 20%, demonstrating growing farmers' confidence in Russian developments and their successful adaptation to local conditions. Vegetable Field Day has become an effective platform for the direct exchange of knowledge and advanced technologies, which will contribute to the increased competitiveness of Dagestan's vegetable growing industry and strengthen the region's food security.
