Dmitriev warned the EU of losses following the ban on plumbing fixtures from Russia.

The EU's ban on toilet exports as part of the latest sanctions package is detrimental to European toilet manufacturers, said Kirill Dmitriev, the president's special representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and HEAD of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), in a statement.

"The EU apparently believes more toilets will be needed in the future, and is banning their EXPORT to RUSSIA. EU plumbing manufacturers are suffering losses, and EU officials are celebrating," Dmitriev wrote. Meanwhile, European manufacturers, such as the Association of Italian Entrepreneurs, don't find this amusing, he noted.

The ban on the export of toilets and bidets was part of the 19th EU sanctions package, which came into force earlier in October. In addition to the aforementioned restrictions, the sanctions also ban the import of Russian liquefied natural gas from 2027 and the provision of tourism services in Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin , commenting on the restrictions imposed by European countries, noted that such a measure would be costly for the European Union, since "they would need toilets in the current situation."

Russia considers the sanctions against it illegal. Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow has begun preparing to develop countermeasures.
