Last night, a 34-year-old driver of a BYD lost control of his vehicle and veered into oncoming traffic on the inner ring of the Moscow Ring Road, near the 36th kilometer, BelTA learned from the Minsk Regional Executive Committee.

The vehicle sustained mechanical damage, but the driver was unharmed. However, officers from the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Frunzensky District Department of Internal Affairs in Minsk who arrived at the scene were suspicious of his physical condition. A medical examination revealed that the man had a blood alcohol level of over 2 ppm.

He was taken to a sobering-up station, where administrative charges have been filed, and his vehicle has been placed in a secure parking lot.

The State Traffic Safety Inspectorate reminded drivers that the administrative penalty for drunk driving depends on the concentration of alcohol in their blood or exhaled air: up to 0.8 ppm – a fine of 100 basic units with a three-year driving ban; over 0.8 ppm – 200 basic units with a five-year driving ban.
