Roses on the border

I would like to note that local manufacturers do not meet halfway, and also make a strong margin, ”she said.

According to Kommersant, the list of goods prohibited from being imported into RUSSIA from the EU under the fifth package of sanctions included planting material for floriculture. These are bulbs, tubers, grafted and ungrafted roses, which are used in greenhouses. Almost all of the above items were imported to Russia from Holland and Germany. Flower suppliers are already expecting prices to rise as a result of the sanctions.

According to the owner of the flower shop "Flowers" Olga Inozemtseva, at the moment all deliveries are made with a week delay, which affects the quality of the goods. “My clients in the reviews wrote that the roses stood for only 3 days. And all because they had already lain in the car for a week. Of course, the quality of the flowers suffers,” she said.

Inozemtseva purchases all products through wholesalers, who, in turn, work directly with manufacturers. The entrepreneur also reported a decrease in demand for products. “It’s hard for me to judge demand, because two competitors left next to me, but my colleagues’ sales decreased by 30-35%,” she said.

In the flower shop YASHEL flowers they said that they buy all the products on their own from foreign manufacturers. “However, the flowers are delivered unstably, they are detained at the border. Quality suffers from this, ”said the flower shop.

The nursery "Flower Estate" told RBC Tatarstan that since all the seeds for flower seedlings and landscaping of cities are imported, there are concerns about their availability next year.

At the moment, we have not raised this issue yet, because we are starting to buy seeds closer to autumn and winter. it is possible that suppliers will be able to find other supply chains, but there are concerns,” the company said.

Dear bouquets

Nargiza Akhmadullina, the head of the Flowers Without a Reason salon, said that flower prices increase by 15-20% annually. In the spring of this year, against the backdrop of sanctions, there was a 20% increase in the cost of packaging and other accessories for the formation of bouquets. According to her, this is due to the fact that almost all accessories are imported from abroad.

“The price of flowers is formed from the cost of the purchase and the margin, which each entrepreneur forms himself. The mark-up includes wages of employees with interest, rent, utility bills, write-offs (perishable goods) and other expenses for household needs,” Akhmadullina explained.

The YASHEL flowers flower shop reported that logistics had risen in price due to sanctions. Prices for flowers, packaging and other accessories for bouquets increased by 20-30%.

The owner of the flower shop "Flowers" Olga Inozemtseva noted that, for example, Ecuadorian roses have risen in price by 30%. “If earlier high roses were purchased for 80-90 rubles, now they cost 120 rubles. We order roses 3 weeks in advance, other flowers in a week,” she explained.
