Experts explained the advice of Rospotrebnadzor to sing folk songs after COVID

The Council of Rospotrebnadzor to sing folk songs for those who have been ill with coronavirus is necessary for training the lungs, pulmonologist Sergey Puryasev and head of the laboratory of especially dangerous infections of the Federal Research Center for Fundamental and Translational Medicine, Professor of Virology Alexander Chepurnov told RBC.

“This is a breathing exercise known for a long time. All people suffering from respiratory failure are recommended to sing folk songs or prayers in a sing-song voice for an hour – prayers are even better,” Puryasev said.

According to him, while singing, a deep breath occurs, the lungs slowly inflate, and exhalation occurs through the spasmodic vocal cords. Due to this, respiratory volumes increase.
