USDEC: The demand for dairy products in the world is very high

US exports of dairy products in January were the second record high in the history of EXPORT deliveries, USDEC said.

In total, 160.8 thousand tons of dry dairy products worth $505 million were delivered.

The indicator was affected both by the reduction in demand from Mexico and some logistical problems.

“Demand for dairy products is very high right now. For the 14th month in a row, export supplies of dry whey products have been growing. In addition, active trading has led to an increase in prices for oil and PM.

CHINA is leading the way in dairy purchases, driven primarily by rising demand, low inventories and rising food security concerns,” said USDEC (American Dairy Export Council) experts.

Demand in other countries also remains stable. January data released last week shows that the US has a product that can meet this demand. At the same time, problems with maritime logistics persist. The world's ports are congested, labor shortages and a host of other pandemic-related shipping problems are evident.

The resolution of problems with maritime logistics will significantly increase the volume of exports of US dairy products in the coming months, but no one has yet announced the exact dates for solving the problems.
