Data Matrix codes have been applied to packages by Savushkin Product since mid-summer. The new label appeared first on packaged cheeses, then on butter, yogurt and MILK. By the end of this year, the entire product line of the company will be equipped with digital passports.

The Data Matrix marking is a specialized code that contains digitized data about each specific product: manufacturer, product name, weight, packaging, taste and fat content. As well as information about the product batch, release date and expiration date.

First, Savushkin Produkt began to accompany white and yellow cheeses with digital passports, then butter, ultra-pasteurized milk and yoghurts in cups with a shelf life of 50 days. From December 1, Data Matrix codes will be applied to all other dairy products with a shelf life of up to 40 days.

The application of a digital code (in everyday life it is called an “honest sign” or “electronic sign”) meets the requirements of Russian and Belarusian legislation in the field of product quality and safety. This makes it possible to prevent counterfeit products from appearing on the market and to make the movement of products both within the country and abroad transparent and fully controlled. Now even an ordinary buyer, using an application on a smartphone, can check the legality of the presented product. For the Russian consumer, this is the application "Honest Sign", and for the Belarusian buyer - "Electronic Sign". You can download it from standard app stores on all mobile platforms.

“Implementation of the project on electronic labeling of products is not an easy task, time-consuming and financially costly. But her goals are good and meaningful. In fact, digital product passports (a unique code that cannot be faked) should ensure the transparency of the Belarusian and Russian food market, ridding it of counterfeits. It will become easier for manufacturers and retailers to identify goods for warehouse accounting and inventory, and buyers will be confident in the quality of the product,” Savushkin Product emphasized.

The system works as follows: the manufacturer transfers to the operator (in Belarus it is the BelBlankaVyd company) full information about the product for code generation. That, in turn, checks the data, generates a code and transfers it to the manufacturer, who applies it to each unit of production. The Data Matrix is formed from the Global Product Identifier (GTIN), an individual serial number, and a verification code.

Currently, dairy products can be found in stores both with Data Matrix and without it. It depends on the type of product and the date of its manufacture. White and yellow cheeses, butter and all dairy products with a shelf life of more than 40 days (ultra-pasteurized milk in TBA cartons and yoghurts with a long shelf life) released after September 1, all already come with digital passports.

At the same time, the legislation allows further production of non-labeled “milk” with a net weight of 30 grams or less, as well as non-industrially packaged in retail outlets, baby food for children under 3 years old and specialized dietary therapeutic and dietary preventive nutrition.
