The second breeding farm for the Yakut horse breed has started work

According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the owner of the status of a breeding farm for breeding horses of the Yakut breed was OOO Khorobut of the Megino-Kangalassky ulus.

The first breeding farm is the I. Ya. Strod Agricultural Production Cooperative of the Amginsky Ulus - in 2022, the farm, for the first time in the history of breeding livestock in the republic, received the corresponding federal status.

Limited Liability Company "Khorobut", organized in 2012, has been engaged in the Yakut breed of horses for many years, implementing "infusion of blood" in cooperation with several horse breeding organizations. In the 90s, based on the results of the bonitation, lines of 3 stallions were laid down, and in 2015, "Khorobut" acquired 3 two-year-old stallions from the Verkhoyansky district - at that time the reproducer of the SPK "Stolby".

The farm has year-round grazing of Yakut horses, and there are two horse breeding bases. Selection and breeding work is organized in accordance with the plan for selection and breeding of Yakut horses in OOO Khorobut of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) for 2023-2027, developed by specialists of the selection center for the Yakut horse breed of the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Sakhaagroplem.

In total, 327 horses were rated in 2022, including 263 mares. All stallions belong to the elite class, among mares, 64.3% belong to the elite class, and 35.7% to class 1. 

More than forty years of selection work has led to the formation of a herd with the correct exterior, strong constitution, high ability to accumulate fat in a short period of summer-autumn. Thus, horses are adapted to severe frosts even with moderate tebenevochny feed. 

Now the farm has moved away from the principles of importing stallions from other regions, relying on homogeneous, own selection. In addition, "Khorobut" annually sells its young breeding stock to the central regions of the republic - in five years, connoisseurs of the Yakut horse have bought 201 heads of young breeding stock here. 

In addition to horse breeding, last year the farm received the status of a breeding farm for Simmental cattle .

Currently, the DIRECTOR of Khorobut LLC is Valery Afanasyevich Kolosov. 

At the beginning of 2023, the horse population at the farm numbered 327 breeding horses, including 263 mares and 29 stallions. The horse breeding enterprise employs two main horse breeders, one assistant horse breeder, a foreman, a chief livestock breeder and a breeding technician. 

The plans include increasing the breeding stock, including young animals of our own reproduction, and increasing the number of linear successors.
