Veterinarians of the Rostov region vaccinated two million sheep and goats in 2021

Almost two million small ruminants were vaccinated by veterinarians in the Rostov region in 2021.

“Over the past year, the specialists of the station for combating animal diseases carried out more than 1.9 million preventive and forced vaccinations of small ruminants,” the ministry said in a statement. it is noted that vaccination for farm animals is the main means of protection against infections.

The Ministry of Agriculture clarifies that the total number of vaccinations carried out includes preventive measures against contagious and especially dangerous diseases, such as bradzot, brucellosis, smallpox, anthrax and foot and mouth disease. Specialists of the veterinary service made the largest number of vaccinations against anthrax - 714 thousand.

533,000 heads of small ruminants were vaccinated against smallpox. 22 thousand sheep and goats were vaccinated against bradzot.

In addition, almost 500 thousand animals have been vaccinated against foot-and-mouth disease and 154 thousand against brucellosis. It is noted that vaccination of animals in the region is carried out all year round.

Earlier it was reported that in the Saratov region, in the areas bordering with Kazakhstan, the veterinary service of the region began vaccinating animals against foot and mouth disease. The measure is aimed at preventing the spread of the virus that enters RUSSIA from Kazakhstan.
