A fourth outbreak of infectious cattle dermatitis has been identified in Udmurtia

“In the Kez region of Udmurtia, a focus of infectious nodular dermatitis of cattle has been identified . The Udmurt Veterinary Diagnostic Center has established a diagnosis of infectious nodular dermatitis. By order of the head of the Main Veterinary Department of the Ural Republic, restrictive measures ( quarantine ) have been introduced. <...> this is the fourth outbreak of the disease - “For three outbreaks in the Yukamensky district, work to eliminate the disease continues,” the statement said.

Earlier in October, authorities declared a state of emergency in the Yukamensky district of Udmurtia due to the detection of cases of nodular dermatitis in cattle.

Lumpy (nodular) dermatitis is a complex infectious disease that occurs in both cattle and other mammals, caused by a virus. The virus is not dangerous to humans. The disease was recorded in South Ossetia, Samara and Kurgan regions in 2018. In Russia, until 2015, nodular dermatitis was detected among cattle.
