In 2024, at least 50 thousand new livestock spaces will be introduced in Russia - Ministry of Agriculture

According to Andrei Razin, since 2016 there has been a steady increase in MILK production in the Russian Federation. Last and this year will not be an exception. Rosstat will publish the data in the coming days .

“Current monitoring shows that we have grown significantly, despite all the difficulties, we have remained active and continued to develop new projects. In 2024 , we expect to introduce at least 50 thousand new livestock spaces through new investment projects that are being implemented in RUSSIA,” the deputy minister said.

He emphasized that the program for providing capex from the federal budget for dairy projects also played a positive role. And he promised further support for investment development of the dairy industry.

According to the data provided, in the Russian Federation there are six million-plus regions that produce more than a quarter of raw milk from the total volume: the Republic of Tatarstan , Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Bashkortostan, Altai Territory, Rostov and Voronezh regions.

During the period from 2014 to 2023, 754 dairy farms were reconstructed and modernized in the country, and 1,293 facilities were newly built. For example, in the Northwestern Federal District, 27 dairy farms have been modernized and built, which will increase milk production in 2024 by 53 thousand tons, in the Central Federal District we are talking about 33 dairy farms (+109 thousand tons of milk), in the Volga Federal District 46 dairy farms have been created and modernized (+100 thousand milk), in the Siberian Federal District - 11 dairy farms (+81 thousand tons of milk).

The speaker noted that in the middle of 2023, there was a stabilization in the market in the Russian Federation, and the demand for dairy products turned into a good trend in increasing consumption volumes. We are talking about a whole range of milk-intensive products, such as cheese, cottage cheese and others. Their sales volumes have increased, which indicates growing consumer demand.

There is progress in 2023 in the EXPORT direction as well. Thus, milk powder and other products found their buyers abroad. According to the deputy minister, Russia has serious growth potential in this direction.

“In this regard, we are supported by internal profitability and the overall situation with the ruble exchange rate and by improving the quality of our product, which is one of the key issues. it is gratifying to see that new investment projects allow us to ensure competitive quality with the largest participants in the international market. I am confident that in the next 5-6 years we will be able to enter foreign markets with more ambitious volumes with our dairy products and occupy a more significant share,” the deputy minister is confident.

As Andrey Razin emphasized, in recent years the main increase in milk volumes has been achieved through the development of the genetic potential of animals. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation plans to systematize this work, since a large number of farms have modest milk production volumes per cow.

“In general, we look very good in this regard; there is already significant growth potential for the next year or two,” the speaker added.
