Online sales of products in 2023 will grow to 700 billion rubles

In 2022, online product orders in RUSSIA grew by 40% compared to 2021 and amounted to approximately 600 billion rubles, according to the Russian Agricultural Bank (RSHB). According to the bank's experts, in 2023 this amount may exceed 700 billion rubles, while 50 billion rubles will be for the sale of farm products.

Going online is a new trend  in the development of sales of farm products, RSHB experts believe. Selling online is more environmentally friendly and profitable - farmers monitor demand online and control supply chains, so there is no overproduction and spoilage of products, experts say. At the same time, the demand for farm products on marketplaces is growing, as buyers see them as more environmentally friendly.

Cooperation between farmers and marketplaces  will be mutually beneficial, experts say. Farmers do not need to look for platforms for the sale and storage of goods, advertise the product and look for a way to find a buyer - all these tasks fall on the marketplace specialists. In turn, marketplaces can attract new customers through unique farm products that other sites cannot provide.

According to experts, by 2025,  30% of products in the categories "eco" and "organic products" on marketplaces will be farm products. At the moment, the top selling farm products on marketplaces are ready-to-eat products, MILK , dairy products, cheeses are in the first place, sausages are in the second, as well as jams, pickles, honey and more. However, experts believe that by 2025 the picture will begin to change and unprocessed goods will enter the top - MEAT, eggs, fish.
