Bear meat from cows and moose from pigs: how game fans are deceived

ROSSELKHOZNADZOR using information systems revealed mass cases of deception of consumers of products from MEAT of wild animals

Rosselkhoznadzor analyzed electronic veterinary certificates issued by the FSIS "Mercury" for finished products from wild animals in various regions of the country.

As a result of the monitoring, numerous cases of substitution of raw materials for cheaper ones in the manufacture of finished meat products from wild animals by unscrupulous participants in the turnover were revealed. In particular, facts of the sale of canned food, sausages, pates and other products made from pork, beef, chicken raw materials, but sold under the guise of elk, bear meat, venison and meat of other species of wild animals and birds, were found.

So, one of the enterprises of the Arkhangelsk region from the Moscow region received pate from deer, bear, elk, wild boar, wild bird (goose, duck), barley with bear meat, pilaf with elk, buckwheat with venison, Salsiccia sausages from elk. However, the analysis of electronic documents showed that in the production of products, meat of cattle, pigs and poultry that was not indicated on the labels was used. At the same time, raw materials from wild animals were allegedly supplied through several intermediaries from a phantom site located in the city of Togliatti at the address of the car factory market.

As a result of the investigation, the inspectors established the entire chain of production of illegal products, which involved LLC Continent-Uzola (Republic of Tatarstan), LLC Life (Samara Region), LLC Christie (Khimki) and LLC Delicacy Game ( Khimki). According to the company's documents, wild animal meat of unknown origin was introduced into circulation in large volumes. Only in April, data on the production of raw materials from 1,500 heads of elk, bear and deer were entered into Mercury.

In the Republic of Kalmykia, the use of a phantom platform for the introduction into circulation of meat of wild animals of unknown origin was revealed. In the city of Lagan, Rost LLC, registered at the address of the Pyaterochka store, allegedly produced 600 kg of bear and roe deer meat from 800 heads of these animals. Through intermediaries, the products were sent to the Novosibirsk region for sale in retail stores. The Veterinary Service of the Republic of Kalmykia confirmed that there is no production at the address indicated by the company. There is no confirmation from the Ministry of Natural Resources on the legality of animal hunting; there are no bear and roe deer populations in the region.

In the Perm Territory, employees of the Rosselkhoznadzor revealed the illegal activities of the agricultural cooperative "AgroRus". Authorized persons of the organization certified the production of elk meat, while according to the information system, only pig-breeding raw materials were received by the cooperative.

In addition, another Perm enterprise, Leto LLC, entered into the FSIS Mercury information on the production of 100 kg of frozen roe deer meat. However, the enterprise used cattle meat as a raw material. The products were planned to be sent to the Novosibirsk region, but were promptly blocked by the Rosselkhoznadzor.

In the Leningrad Region, Karat LLC produced a dry-cured product from venison, using pork offal as a raw material. Then, Pravilny Produkt LLC (St. Petersburg), participating in the illegal scheme, repackaged the products with a name change to “cured venison slices”.

Another St. Petersburg company, MCC BALTIISKY LLC, sent elk stew to the stores of large retail chains in Moscow and St. Petersburg , the production of which used cheaper reindeer meat.

In all cases, measures of influence were applied to violators of the veterinary legislation.

Information about unscrupulous participants in the turnover was sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Commission for Combating Illegal Circulation of Industrial Products. In addition, Rosselkhoznadzor also informs the Ministry of Natural Resources of all discrepancies in the production, movement and use of raw materials and products from game meat, on the basis of whose permits wild animals and birds are hunted.

The advanced information systems of Rosselkhoznadzor have no analogues among other federal authorities, which are also involved in the supervision of food quality and safety. The analysis of electronic documents allows Rosselkhoznadzor to quickly identify violators and exclude illegal products from entering the Russian market.
