Experiment with terminal boars in Tyumen agroholding completed successfully

Terminal boars are one of the simplest ways to optimize the cost per kilogram of high-quality pork in commercial production. The terminal system involves crossing hybrid females with a terminal male (purebred or hybrid) to obtain homogeneous groups of offspring with high growth and weight gain rates.

Agroholding "Yubileiny" conducted an experiment to increase herd productivity in 2023. Investments in the purchase of terminal boars amounted to about 1 million rubles. 

The experts compared the results of their offspring with the characteristics of piglets from their breeding center, where they breed Duroc, Landrace and Large White breeds.

The first results of the terminal boars' offspring are encouraging:

- The average weight of piglets from terminal boars at slaughter exceeds by 4 kg.

- The feed consumption of these animals is lower by 0.12 kg.

Control slaughters will be carried out over the next two months. If the positive dynamics are maintained, the issue of purchasing a new batch of boars will be considered in February 2024 , but a complete refusal to use purebred producers in the agricultural holding is not planned.
