Food inflation also accelerated, rising from 0.27% to 0.39%. Fruit and vegetable prices increased particularly, rising by 1.13% compared to 0.75% the previous week. Frozen fish prices increased by 1%, while sour cream and cottage cheese increased by 0.8%. Pasteurized milk and cheese prices increased by 0.7%. At the same time, prices for chicken eggs (-0.6%), buckwheat (-0.4%), chicken (-0.2%), and pork (-0.1%) decreased .

Last year, inflation stood at 9.52%. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak noted that price growth exceeded forecasts, but government measures were helping to contain inflation. Mikhail Mishustin also emphasized the importance of controlling inflation, which is the main challenge facing the economy.
