The transport prosecutor's office reported the findings of a safety inspection at the Mogilev branch of the Belarusian Railways.

May 7, MINSK . The Mogilev Transport Prosecutor's Office inspected compliance with legislation on traffic safety and non-occupational injury prevention at facilities of the Mogilev branch of the Belarusian Railway. This was reported to BELTA by the Prosecutor General's Office.

In 2024 , 11 cases of injuries to citizens by rolling stock were recorded at the facilities of the Mogilev branch of the Belarusian Railway, one as a result of electric shock from a high-voltage overhead contact system. Eight of these were fatal.

An analysis of the circumstances showed that the main cause of the incidents was the victims' violation of safety measures at railway facilities, including their presence in a state ofALCOHOL intoxication . At the same time, the Mogilev branch of the Belarusian Railways and its structural divisions continue to demonstrate certain shortcomings in the development and implementation of injury prevention measures, and inadequate oversight of the implementation of proposed measures. Instances of improperly conducted educational and preventive work in work collectives and among the population have been identified.

The prosecutor's office reviewed materials on the clarification of the circumstances of the injuries and the minutes of operational meetings of the standing commissions for the prevention of non-occupational injuries and found that certain structural divisions are not properly analyzing the causes and conditions that contributed to the injuries. Furthermore, monitoring of railway pedestrian crossings and level crossings also revealed isolated violations of the requirements for the equipment of sections intended for public passage (driving) across railway tracks.
 
As a result, the Mogilev transport prosecutor submitted a request to the HEAD of the Mogilev branch of the Belarusian Railways to eliminate the identified violations, as well as the causes and conditions that contributed to them. Following the review of the inspection report, additional organizational and practical measures were adopted to prevent injuries, and engineering structures were brought into compliance with applicable requirements.
