pionerprodukt.by continues to publish videos from the AgroExpedition “Agriculture of Kazakhstan”. In this video we will show how elite breeding rams are selected. Alakol-Agro specialists will tell you what parameters you need to pay attention to when selecting. They will also tell you what kind of scientific and selection work is being carried out on the farm.
Determination of rams to a particular class is done by running the rams through a split at the end of which a machine is installed, which, depending on the settings, separates the flock into three groups, which allows you to determine the class and select potential breeding rams by weight.
Also, to select rams, it is necessary to take into account the condition of the wool, which allows you to create your own microclimate and tolerate harsh weather conditions.
Covering sheep of the Kazakh coarse-wool breed with rams of the Edilbaev breed is aimed at increasing the live weight of the sheep, which should be higher than the minimum requirements. For these purposes, mating should be carried out among the best selected animals of both breeds.
This work is important for improving the livestock of the farm and also has an economic goal: obtaining maximum profit at minimum cost.
The minimum weight requirements for the Edilbaevskaya breed at this age are from 75 kg, for the Kazakh rough-haired breed - from 70 kg. The maximum weight of a ram from this flock was 101 kg.
Also, the farm carries out a lot of selection work on crossing Kazakh sheep breeds with rams of the following breeds: Dorper, Zvartbles, Texel, since these breeds have good meat qualities and marbling. The meat of these breeds is in high demand in Europe and Arab countries.
