A set of measures for the disinfection of objects of veterinary supervision plays an important role in the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of livestock farms. Of great interest to veterinarians are multicomponent agents with an extended spectrum of action, including against especially dangerous viral diseases.
Currently, outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza continue to be recorded in the country and border states. The effectiveness of preventive measures to combat HSV depends, among other things, on the quality of the disinfectant used in the household.
The Reference Laboratory for Viral Diseases of Birds of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Federal Center for Animal Health" subordinate to ROSSELKHOZNADZOR has many years of experience in assessing the virucidal activity of disinfectants against the avian influenza virus.
During the study, experts determine the effectiveness of the study drug in the volume of an aqueous suspension of the virus in a solution of protein and buffer salts (suspension method), and also evaluate the disinfecting effect of the drug on virus-contaminated surfaces (test surface irrigation method). The set of test surfaces can be different: metal, plastic, glass, painted wood, tile, concrete, rubber, etc. The list of test surfaces, such as the concentration of the tested disinfectant and the incubation time, is agreed with the customer. The presence of the virucidal activity of the drug is concluded at the end of the experiments on 100% survival of developing chicken embryos infected with disinfected swabs and suspensions of the avian influenza virus. Upon completion of the work, the customer is issued an official test report of the disinfectant with a conclusion on its effectiveness.
Successful tests of the disinfectant against the avian influenza virus make it possible to recommend it for widespread use in the disinfection of veterinary control objects - from surfaces of premises, buildings and structural elements to vehicles, cleaning equipment, industrial liquid and solid waste.
