Dmitry Patrushev discussed the prospects for the development of the agro-industrial complex of the Belgorod region with the acting head of the region Vyacheslav Gladkov

The Belgorod Region is one of the top three Russian regions in terms of gross agricultural production. High rates are noted both in the sectors of agriculture and in the food and processing industries. Today, during a working trip, Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev discussed the current situation and prospects for further development of the region's agro-industrial complex with Acting Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.

Now the harvesting campaign is in full swing in the region - more than 2.3 million tons of grain have already been harvested. At the same time, the HEAD of the Ministry of Agriculture emphasized the development of land reclamation in the region. Agricultural production uses 100% of reclaimed land, which is significantly higher than the national average. This approach gives its results. In particular, the grain yield in 2020 exceeded 53 centners per hectare, which is one of the highest rates in central RUSSIA, and reached 77 centners per hectare on reclaimed lands. The average vegetable yield in the region reaches 127 centners per hectare, and on irrigated lands it is three and a half times more.

The Belgorod region is also the largest MEAT producer in the country. Last year, the volume of livestock and poultry production exceeded 1.7 million tons. In addition, the region occupies a leading position in terms of dairy productivity.

The sustainable development of the agro-industrial complex of the subject is supported by state support - it is one of the largest recipients of federal funding. In 2020, the region was allocated 3.7 billion rubles for these purposes, while all funds were brought to the recipients. This year, the amount of support was increased to 4 billion rubles, at present the level of development is higher than the national average.
