German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has tested positive for CORONAVIRUS. He announced this on his account on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
“My current covid -19 tests show two lines,” Scholz wrote. The Chancellor clarified that his illness is mild and added that he hopes to continue working, but remotely.
Government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said the chancellor would not participate in public events on Monday and Tuesday.
Scholz's meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, which was supposed to take place in Berlin on December 19, had to be cancelled. Hebestreit added that Scholz was vaccinated against covid-19 earlier this year.
Also on Monday, German Interior Minister Nancy Feser reported being infected with COVID-19.
