
Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva told TASS that she is not yet ready to replace Irina Viner-Usmanova as president of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation.
“Not now, because you need to devote your whole life to this. The way Irina Alexandrovna does it. I now have another job, in one of the largest media holdings, and I like it, ”Kabaeva said.
She added that she loves art and is not going to leave her. “And I see my task in taking part in its development and improvement,” Kabaeva added.
Wiener saw advantages in depriving Russian gymnasts of international tournaments
In 2014, Kabaeva became the chairman of the board of directors of the National Media Group holding, in 2016 she headed the board of directors of the Sport-Express newspaper.
Kabaeva is the 2004 Olympic champion in the individual all-around and the bronze medalist of the 2000 Olympic Games in the individual all-around.
Viner-Usmanova has been the HEAD of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation since 2008. Two-time Olympic champion Evgenia Kanaeva earlier in an interview with RBC Sport called Kabaeva as a possible successor to Viner.
