Gunzburg announced the need to vaccinate 10 million teenagers in six months

In Russia, at least 10 million teenagers aged 12 to 17 years old should be vaccinated against coronavirus in six months to protect them from a severe course of the disease. This was stated by the director of the Center. N.F. Gamalei Alexander Gintsburg on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel.

“At least 10 million of our children – teenagers aged 12 to 17 years – should again be vaccinated within six months, preferably with the vaccine that we have, now we have done it,” he said.

Gunzburg called the vaccination of minors a necessary process and noted that the Ministry of Health has so far only made a trial pre-order for a small amount of vaccine doses for children.

At the end of November 2021, at the Gintsburg-led Center. N.F. Gamalei announced the registration of a drug for the vaccination of adolescents aged 12–17 years, it was called Gam-COVID-Vak-M - Sputnik M. The vaccine is based on the classic "Sputnik V" used for adults, but its dosage is reduced by five times. The drug consists of two components, they must be administered to a teenager with an interval of 21 days. This week, more than ten regions of Russia have already received it, the drug will be distributed to children's hospitals, and vaccination will be voluntary.
